Vibrant Communities
Thriving, Together
Whether animal, vegetable, or human, our well-being rests in a web of dynamic interactions, the web of life.
In a planet of treasures, the web of life is a mega-treasure. It’s how all the living and non-living parts of a river or forest or backyard come together so you can have your milkweed, and your monarch too.
The fishing is good and the woods are singing because the soils are fertile, the water’s healthy, and the mayflies have hatched just in time for the brookies and warblers: in other words, all systems go.
Like spider webs, this web of life may look fragile, but it is resourceful and innovative.
Life on Earth is always changing, but ecological networks are resilient — to a point. This resiliency depends on abundant life forms, and the diverse ways these plants and animals make their living and interact with the world around them.
In this interdependent planet, the greater and more diverse the resources — habitat, food, shelter, water — the greater the vibrancy to which we all belong.
The richness of the natural world is also our own wealth, because we’re part of it. The converse is also true: threats to biodiversity ultimately affect our well-being too.
For better or worse we’re all in this together. Protecting the web of life protects us all. COREworks projects are a local part of that global effort.
