Two Tools

Offsetting is a useful tool in the toolkit, but even better is reducing the need for carbon offsets in the first place. May the resources below energize and guide our shared journey to live ever more lightly.

Tool 1

Build Actionable Knowledge

Think Globally. Project Drawdown is an internationally-respected clearinghouse for research-based climate change solutions. Its best-selling book as well as website highlights the possibilities for drawing down carbon in multiple societal sectors, each briefly explained. (What’s the single greatest opportunity to drawdown carbon? Eliminate food waste.)

Act Locally. A more personal companion site is Regeneration.org. Created by a Project Drawdown co-founder, “Regeneration is not only about bringing the world back to life; it is about bringing each of us back to life.” This user-focused website details an array of daily life actions that individuals and their communities can take to create a thriving world. Check out the site’s inspiring menu of future-forward solutions plus a fill-it-out-right-now customized punch list you can make to post and track your own commitments.

Tool 2

Calculate Your Carbon Footprint

Think of a carbon footprint as the total impact our individual and/or corporate actions have on ecological well-being. The greater the footprint, the greater the impact. All of us generate carbon footprints just by living, but the goal is to live more lightly. It’s quick to find free, carbon footprint calculators online. We recommend the highly-rated, user-friendly calculator created by the Cool Climate Network (UC-Berkeley).
