share solar

let there be light

Whatever routes each of us take toward a thriving world, we must all take one part of that journey together. This is our journey toward life powered by clean, renewable energy.

The need to cut carbon emissions is quickly changing how we live. In addition to ramping up energy conservation, we’re also adopting hydro, wind, and solar as clean sources of power. The good news is this transition to renewable energy is accelerating. The bad news is the pace is still slow, and not everyone benefits equally.  That’s where COREworks has a role, at least locally.

Why aren’t more of us in Rockbridge going solar? Financial barriers are a big reason. It takes resources to make the solar switch, and not all of us have the means.

Start-up costs prevent many of us from connecting with green energy. Instead of enjoying lower utility costs and satisfaction knowing they’re part of “go green” efforts, too many of our neighbors are caught in a fossil-fuel past.

COREworks imagines a better way. What if we could ensure a more just and fair distribution of opportunity? What if in doing so we could also strengthen the community ties and compassion that make Rockbridge a special place?

We can advance solar energy and social equity at the same time. Here’s how: when you donate to COREworks we direct 100% of your gift to the COREworks Fund. Capital from the Fund in turn seeds additional emissions-reducing projects in Rockbridge County, including no or low-cost solar installation for eligible non-profits and modest-income households.

In sum, making an offset donation to COREworks sets off a chain reaction of good:

    • solar takes a step forward
    • another family or non-profit becomes energy independent
    • our community grows a bit more equitable, and
    • the planet gets a break

Bringing more solar to more people in Rockbridge is the right thing to do.  There’s energy in that — and power.
